The Open Labs (OL) are a DEQ initiative that began in 2005. The main aim of this event is to awaken a taste for science in young people and at the same time showcase the research in chemistry, chemical engineering and materials engineering that is carried out at IST.
Over the years, thousands of primary and secondary school students have passed through DEQ, many of whom have gone on to study at IST. The LAs are also an opportunity for schools to introduce their students to the academic environment and scientific research, allowing them to carry out experiments that complement the curriculum and which are not possible in a school environment.
