Chemistry Olympics
The DEQ has collaborated in the organization of one of the semi-finals of the Olimpíadas Química Mais and Olimpíadas Júnior, an initiative of the Portuguese Chemistry Society.
Junior Olympics, April 13, 2024
One of the semi-finals of the Junior Olympics took place on April 13, 2024, organized by Ermelinda Maçoas, Isabel Correia and Palmira Silva.
Several lecturers, researchers and doctoral, master's and undergraduate students from the DEQ took part in the lectures and practical activities. The lectures were given by Alexandra Antunes ("Synthesis of Solutions: Organic Chemistry as a Tool for Solving Challenges") and by Diogo Santos ("What is green hydrogen?"). The practical activities were: "Molecules: from structure to properties" by Alexandra Antunes; "An eye for an eye" by Ana Paula Serro; Demonstration of the production and use of green hydrogen by Diogo Santos and "Valorization of biomass and waste" by Rui Galhano.
